Is an initiative to inspire the next generation of coders and makers. The initiative is targeting students and youth within Tanzania, specifically in Dar es Salaam and Tanga Region. The initiative is structured in three components: Makers innovation challenge, Darasa la taifa TV programs, and engagement in Tanga.
An innovative challenge to encourage makers (youth) to come up with innovative gadgets and tools that can be used to address different issues during the COVID19 crisis.
A national-wide Television campaign, aiming to provide resources to help bridge gaps that create unequal opportunities in learning and education. It will focus on the computer, coding, and making skills for the purpose of cultivating the knowledge and skill Tanzania secondary students and youth need to become informed and engaged to solve their learning challenges.
The project will work with 5 secondary schools in the Tanga region to equip them with the basic skills of coding and making. Furthermore, the company will establish and run the coding and making clubs in the five secondary schools.
The longterm vision of Coders and Makers initiative is to create a wide community of coders and makers across Tanzania to supporting the coding and making culture in private and public schools with special emphasis on public schools. The initiative is aiming at creating and promoting tools and resources that can be adopted by schools to nurture the culture of making and coding.
